Veneers

Veneers are very thin claddings attached to the front of teeth to improve shape or colour. They are usually made of Porcelain which resists staining and chipping and are very realistic, giving immediate effect. They can disguise chipped or discoloured teeth and also hide gaps or overcrowded teeth.

A fine layer of enamel, about 0.5mm thick, is shaved off each tooth being treated, under local anaesthetic. The dentist takes an impression and may fit temporary veneers for the one to two weeks it takes for the permanent veneers to be custom-made. Alternatively our dentists have one of the latest advances in cosmetic dentistry - CEREC - that enables them to fabricate the veneer onsite during a single visit. These are then bonded to the teeth with a special tough adhesive.

Our dentists have considerable experience in placing veneers and they will give plenty of time to discuss the various options before commencing treatment. They will always try to provide the best cosmetic results and at the same time, try their best to remove none or very little healthy tooth tissue.
